Driver side headlight has been intermittently popping up. I turned the **** thing slightly and then it will pop up now but now makes noise when going back down.
It will stow but then headlight motor continues to spin. Seems to me like gear teeth are worn and not tripping some sensor to tell it the headlight is down? Is this gear teeth being worn down issue or something else?

[QUOTE=jdmvette;1607064587]You need a new gear or motor. Motors are cheap and easy to get it running like new...that's what I'd recommend replacing[/QUOTE
Replacing the motor vs the gear is a big difference…
is there a sensor that tells the motor to stop spinning once the headlight is stowed? Im confused why it keeps spinning once it’s already stowed

I have a 2004... What year did they switch from sealed housing to the version with screws? (If it's the sealed one then I'd rather buy the whole motor assembly)
Mammot, yours will be a sealed unit. changing the gear is very simple. you can look up Rodney dickman for a kit. it comes with complete instructions.
when working properly the motor turns the headlights until a resistance is sensed
I just ordered a new motor from Ebay, 15 minutes ago, for 39.00. A new gear would be close to 30.00, not worth the work
But you will be replacing it again. I got the brass gears that will not strip like the nylon gears
I’m gunna just buy assembled motor since mine is 04 with sealed unit. I’d rather not waste time trying to seal the motor back up etc. These lasted 20 years… lol that’s good enough
