Default Questioning about tick master cylinder upgrade

I put the 13/16 bore tick master cylinder and the twin disc Kevlar monster SK clutch set and later billet flywheel. Of course I have a new slave cylinder and I set the free play to 0.100 using shims. This is what they specify. We know that the Luke pressure plate that comes with the kit is self-adjusting and I did not tamper with its adjustment and it looks like it's where it should be for a new clutch. Everything installed correctly but I have to say this clutch engages in disengages at the top of the pedal travel. Not a big fan of this. What do you think about putting more free play into this and getting a little bit closer to 0.200 rather than where it is now so that I can get the pedal to engage in disengage further down? What are you guys doing and what are you finding to be the case?

When you say tick master cylinder I assume you mean adjustable master cylinder. Why not adjust that instead of messing with the air gap?

Because when you adjust the distance, the pedal can travel. It doesn't change the engagement point in the pedal travel where the clutch begins to engage.

I just setup a Monster LT1s. Their recommendation was .08" - .1" gap. I was concerned that too small a gap may cause a problem as the clutch wears. Also wasn't thrilled with a large shim moving the slave off the locating boss on the TT. I ended up with a 1/16" spacer and an air gap around .13". Its high but not too bad. If I have to do it again, I'll drop the spacer another 1/32" and shoot for .15" gap.
