Need Help with Two Issues on My 2000 Convertible Corvette
Hi, I'm seeking some advice regarding two issues I've been experiencing with my 2000 convertible Corvette with a manual transmission.
1. High-Pitched Squeaking on Startup:
Every time I start my Corvette, I notice a high-pitched squeaking sound. However, after driving for a bit, it seems to subside, although I'm not entirely sure if it goes away completely. Any thoughts on what might be causing this and how to address it?
2. Noisy Passenger Flip-Up Headlight:
My passenger-side flip-up headlight works as it should when opening, but when it closes, it emits a loud grinding noise that lasts for about 20 seconds before stopping. It's quite annoying, and I'd love to know if anyone has encountered this issue and if there are any fixes or maintenance tips you can share

Most likely the headlight gear is toast. Mine did the same when I bought it. Installing the rebuild kit and it's been fine ever since. You can see your motor spinning. go to C&S corvettes online and buy the gear repair kit

My headlight motors were rebuilt poorly by a prior owner, using plastic gears again. The housing was mauled, so no way to get a good seal. He had to use tie-wraps to keep the housing closed. If yours, upon disassembly, is in a similar condition, O'Reilly's offers the motors with a lifetime warranty.
I kept my rebuild kit hoping that, when the other one fails, the PO did a better job and the housing is salvageable.

Typical of a serpentine belt or AC belt which is not well enough in tension. Either replace the tensioners and/or the belts. the cheapest is to start with the belts. The AC one is not easy.
best of luck.
