I'm considering the FLP exhaust for my Z06. Wondering if this install voids the factory warranty? Also, I have a rather steep driveway. Anybody know if these headers cause even a slight decrease in ground clearance?
The headers will obviously void the coverage on some related parts, like the factory exhaust components, 02 sensors, plug wires, etc. If the dealer can prove the headers caused the failure of the covered part, it won't be under warranty. The rest of the car will though.
Another thing to keep in mind, is you may have to pay additional labor costs, if the dealer has to work around the headers during a warranty repair. As an example, your clutch is obviously still covered under warranty, but LT headers may make getting to the bleeder screw more involved, so it's to be expected you'd have to pay for the additional labor involved to bleed your clutch.
As for ground clearance, there is a very slight decrease, but I don't know by how much to really tell you. If you are scraping your car in the middle, like in crossiing a speed bump, you may hit or scrape the system. Any change in ground clearance is very little though, and I wouldn't be too concerned about it. You can not see the system hanging down while looking under the car.
Smokin, headers in most cases can/will void your warranty or possibly parts of it, depends mainly on the dealership. As for ground clearance, this is not an issue as these headers snug up tight to the underbody with no hitting and noise. They are a great fit both going in and once on. I know as I have them on my car. Good luck with your choices.

Brandon,
There is some loss of ground clearance as cats and front band-clamps protrude below the level of the floor pan about a half an inch or so. The stock cats are flush or even slightly recessed. I have never had any scraping problems with my FLP's, but my car is not lowered. As for warranty issues, you can find a range of opinions and experiences. I agree with Y2kvert4me that in denying warranty coverage, the burden of proof is on GM to prove that what you did to the car contributed to the failure. But dealers can sure hassle you a lot over mods and warranty work. I have kept all my stock parts so I can undo mods in case of a major failure.
I have been favorably impressed with the quality, performance and sound imrovement. Great mod. Do it, you'll be glad you did.
these headers rock.........warranty???depends on the dealer......most are cool about them some are not....if you have a problem ...just say thanks and leave ...anothere dealer should be nearby...as for the ground clearence ..there should be no problems..... take a look at my sig and visit the website...there is a few pics under the car with FLP's :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
Only would legally void the warranty if the headers were proven to cause that potential problem.
My dealership, a non-issue.
I have lost no ground clearance the way I adjusted the clamps :yesnod: :smash:
