a reminder on battery tenders: every type of battery has its own charging requirement. an expensive device might recognize the type, although i have my doubts about it, there are many "hybrid" varieties etc. overcharging produces corrosion on the positive plate, undercharging produces suphation on the negative. your choise. a battery usualy dies of corrosion. what a cheap tender does its anybodys guess, unless you go and analyse its behavior. thats why i dont use them, i use a fixed voltage charger (or an electronic one of low capacity) overnight. if you disconnect a sitting battery and do this every 10-15 weeks nothing can go wrong.
reminder on desulphation (while we are at it): none of the several methods has been proven to work, some of them can damage the battery by promoting corrosion or creating microscopic shorts. besides, the permanent type of sulphation is just that. those gadgets are on the level of sonic spyder-scares: dont work/marketing hype imo.
loooks pretty similar to the contraption that killed my two batteries. good luck.
as to batteries for the ls1 and ls7, i got two of these last time. i use the larger ones where they fit (like my amg or jeeps). you dont need a fancy batter if you have a fancy car, even if it has 1000hp. i wisened up to the cheapest batteries out there many years ago. they last as long as expesive ones. i remember about 10 years ago i wanted to give it a try and got a varta for $200 (with a big dicount, priced at probably $250+). it died after 2 years and one month exactly after the 2 year warranty expired. these f... calcium batteries dont last, its a shame you can (almost) not get the classical antimon technology anymore. maybe when the smart phone will be able to fill up your battery it will see a revival?
It kinda does a disservice to the folks at battery minder (who I know nothing about) to say their unit looks similar to the unit that ruined your 2 batteries. It is either the same unit, or it is not. From certain angles, a Saturn Sky can look "similar" to a Corvette, but there's a world of difference! I have had 2 Battery Tender jrs., for several years now. I haven't had any issues with either one. Both on the original, several years old batteries. I'd buy one again with no hesitation. My .02.
Some information I found: RECHARGING AGM BATTERIES: The Battery Tender® has an absorption charge mode, but the the Battery Tender® Plus has a different absorption mode maximum charge voltage and a timer to hold the absorption voltage longer. These specific changes were made to accommodate the charging requirements of Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) style lead acid batteries.

In the vast majority of cases, yes. Totally agree. My first Tender, a BTjr., I got on sale at Lowes for $25.00, maybe 4 years ago. Wife got me a second jr. last Christmas for not much more. Both are flawless, so far......
I just put a Schumacher SC1300 on my 2003. That’s the one my father-in-law has used on all of his vehicles for a couple years now and I have a couple friends that use it on their boats. I’m in Texas so in the winter it may sit in the garage a couple of weeks between starts. I rigged up a mounted socket to plug into.

Reason: Add
Were they Agm batteries.
I'm thinking about staying with flooded battery. I've heard the Corvettes run better on them.
Just wondering if the tender killed flooded or AGM battery.
