Posted this in general dis... so trying again here.
Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. When I drive off in the morning, it seems that shifting the car is a little rough (6-speed). It's like the shifter doesn't want to go from 1-2, 2-3, or 3-4... It's hard to explain, there is more of a resistance going into gear, I guess it feels like the sychros aren't doing there job. But after a few miles.... she shifts smooth. Oh, and it's definitely more noticable the colder the weather is.
Any thoughts?
7000 miles here. and didn't notice it when i got the car, but it was much warmer then.
Dahoof, any tips on changing the fluid? or is it pretty straight forward. Also, is there a specific Redline product you used?
thanks!
The fluid change is super easy. Drain the old using the plug. And put the new stuff in using a fluid pump. Call Chris at speed demon Motorsports. He hooked me up with a great price and fast shipping.

Use D4-ATF. Be sure and remove the fill-plug first. It'll drain faster, and you'll be sure you can refill it before you've drained the fluid out.
It's definitely related to the ATF's viscosity when cold. As far as draining it is concerned, it usually comes out as a gusher when I pull the plug, and that's with the fill plug installed. Last thing I want is to have it come out faster!
I just went through a little research on the subject of changing out the tranny fluid myself, although not for the same reason, but as your C-5 is under warranty, consider that before you make the change- :D http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=474454

No the last thing you want is to have trouble removing the fill plug after you've drained the tranny!

yup makes sense.... I'm not a newbe to DIY's, but can I tell you how :mad i was when i saw one of those oil transfer pumps in an autopart store. All those times I putzed around with hoses and squeezing the bottle, when changing rear end fluid. mann that stuff stinks.
