CARTEK X-PACKAGE & A4?

One thing that bothers me is that a cam swap only can get you to 380rwhp. I have to believe that the Cartek heads are capable of more than the stock heads?
Hogurt,
The only guys that i am aware of running mid 11s thru an A4 with the old stage II Heads/cam by Cartek is Robsvette at 11.57 or so and myself at 11.68. To take this package into the mid 11s you will need a ballsy drag converter like my Yank Prothruster 4000 with 3.73 gears and Robsvette Vigilante 4000 stall, also with 3.73s). I only got in 4 passes after my converter and gear upgrade referenced above and as i pulled my 11.68 in 80 degree heat at Byron this past summer, i know my old set up had at least 11.5s in it also. I also got the 11.68 with et streets and skinnines. It takes alot more converter and hook up, etc., to take a heads/cam C5 from the high 11s to the mid 11s and as such, a considerable amount of $.
Red98C5 with his same lil old Cartek Stage II heads and cam like Robsvette and mine, also only pulled 11.7s and not until Red 98C5 upgraded to the X Pacakge and a hard hitting 4000+ stall and 4.10 gears did he pull 11.3s. These are some of the fastest times on a H/C only A4 C5s, on the forum that i am aware of (other than Redgar 11.6 something on cam only and ballsy Yank Super thruster 3500 stall drag converter) and the fastest A4 times for Cartek H/C C5s.
You may want to consider spending a little extra more $ and step up to the X package, as that package is also 100% streetable and you will be making HUGE POWER (420rwhp or so thru an A4) at least 30to40 more rwhp than the traditional Cartek stage II H/C. The little bit of extra $ may be worth the extra power as it will make your C5 the king of the hill vs. most any other A4 C5 H/C cars at both the track and dyno.
In reference to cam only in the A4 and the Cartek stage II heads not giving you much more power vs. just cam, i believe you would only see about 360rwhp with just a cam and therefore the heads should be good for around 20rwhp.
Best of luck and Cartek is a GREAT CHOICE as they are on top of their game and the reason i went with them 1.5 years ago is b/c they seemed to have more cars in the 11s than most others! :smash:
By the way, who is doing your install and tuning as this IS HUGE that you use the best installer and tuner that you could find, for best RESULTS, etc.

Thanks for the info. That is great. I was actually referring to Robsvette. . .he sent me the video of his 11.5 run. I thought he made that run with 3.42's. Regardless that is fantastic.
I will probably call Dave tomorrow. I have already purchased the Stg II heads. . .but I could trade them in + my stock LS1 heads. However, I only have a 2900 stall converter and until this moment I thought I had decided to go with 3.42's instead of 3.73's. . .Things to ponder before I start getting everything installed???
So, what could I get for a used set of Stg II heads? They have about 25k miles.
By the way, I apologize. . .I am not trying to hijack this thread.

Just trying to help another forum member with his soon to be tricked out A4 C5. I have put alot of time and energy into my old set up and gathering info on proven cartek H/C combos in A4s, and just want to share some of that info to help you make the right decision.
Last thing you want to do is spend good $ and then wishing you went with the upgraded option (i.e-x package).. I know that i really wanted to hit that magic 400rwhp thru my A4 and the X package is no doubt the way i would be going if i wasan't graduated to big cubes! If you go with the x package i would also trailer the car there for JULIO to work his magic as he no doubt is a top tuner and really knows his x pacakge better than anyone else.:D
Talk to Dave and way all of your options carefully.
