Default Back fire throttle down?

I am about to put together the Vararam cold air intake, and the Corsa pace car system with crossover pipes. Rember there are no Dumb questions so if there is an obvious answer please be kind. Question / do I risk unwanted back fire with throttle down with this combination?? :steering:

I'm not sure what you're asking - if you're referring to the :lurk: when you lift the throttle at higher RPM, the new exhaust will make it more audible, though the crossover pipe will muffle it, it'll end up a little more noticable than the stock exhaust.

As for there being no dumb questions, please don't continue to believe that. :nono:

Sam :D ;) :jester :grouphug:

Here is a reply I posted to another topic - I think it may answer your question:

Thanks to everyone for their replies and input. I'll be attending some local meets in the next few weeks and hope to sample some of the different systems in person. For those with Corsas without X pipes, do you find the popping obtrusive? Or more importantly, do your SIGNIFICANT OTHERS find it obtrusive?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll likely find a pretty even split on this one. The popping is really a love it or hate it type of thing. I am a big fan of it, and my SO loves it too. Depending on mods and tuning, some people get some pretty loud bangs (especially between gears with an M6 under aggressive acceleration), and I would have to agree that the loud bangs are probably appreciated by very few. I put my exhaust on before modding my intake, and I initially got some loud bangs between gears. As soon as I opened up the intake (swiss cheese airbox, K&N, deleted MAF screen), the loud bangs went away completely and the popping decreased considerably. I miss the popping a bit, but not the bangs. The bangs weren't all that frequent and both they and the popping could be fairly easily avoided depending on your driving style. I'm guessing that the intake mods allowed for more complete combustion, which would mean smaller and fewer explosions in the exhaust. The bangs more than likely would have gone away with simple tuning as well.
