I just finished my 4th not so ‘enjoyable’ experience replacing the front turn signal bulb in 7 years of ownership. Previously, I tried the entry through the brake vent but that did not go well. My hand was too big and not flexable enough. Plus, when removing my hand I left some skin. Then I did the headlight Top Cover and Shroud removal method. I was able to remove the bulb socket but with many ##** words of frustration. I am trying to find a method that my 80 year old hands can replace the turn signal bulb easier.
Has anyone taken out the front fender tire inner liner to replace the turn signal bulb? If yes, how hard is it to remove and replace?
Would you be able to get the front end up on a couple of 2x6's? If so, I remove the left and right air dam pieces and am able to get to those bulbs that way.
Although I did just replace the OEM turn signals with LED ones....no more melting of housing or changing of bulbs.
There is an access panel attached to the inner fender. Tire must be removed for easiest access. Your housing probably has a hole burned in the top of it. As soon as water enters, POOF!! Housing should be repaired/replaced, then the bulb. As suggested, search is your friend....
if you can get it up on ramps its pretty easy. there are screws holding a plastic panel underneath. pull those out and you can just reach up there to change the bulbs. And like the other guys said, the bulb may have melted a hole in the top of the housing.
Thanks for everyone's suggestions. Unfortunately, age and dexterity has made crawling underneath cars and fitting hands into unknown areas history. I made a DIY tool to pop the socket out of the fixture by going through the headlight opening. It was still difficult but it worked after some ##** words. After removing, I celebrated with a pack of Guinness.
