Which of these lifters would you consider the highest quality:

GM LS7
Morel 7717
Comp 850-16

.580ish lift cam.

I'm not looking to spend any more than I would for GM LS7's, like Johnson's.

TIA

AJ

This is going to be interesting. I was led to believe that the LS7 lifters were the best value. Apparently not all LS7 lifters are created equal.
I'd consider talking to BTR. I have an intermittent tick on my fairly newly build motor with LS7 lifters and that's my course of action if required.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of opinions...
I did my HC swap in the spring. I've got 7500 miles on the GM Performance Lifters PN12499225, running on a TSP stage IV, low lift cam. No problems so far. I need to change the oil again and I'll cut the filter open to check for debris as I always do. Magnetic drain plug had nothing on it, 1st change after the new parts.
I can't find the link, but when I was shopping for lifters in the spring there was a post on one of the forums that compared the Delphi to the GMP lifter. and I went with the $400 (at the time) GMP variety based on the machining I saw in the pics. TSP wanted to sell me the $800 Johnson lifters. You can get made in the USA Morels with Summit packaging thru their site. Lots and lots of options. My cam is only .550 lift with single Z06 Beehive springs. I did that for a reason; To be easy on the valve train parts. Its plenty of power for me right now and If I want more I'll call A & A.
You can go on Summit and click on the compare box and go from there.

I used the Summit brand LS2 Timing Chain and Std volume and pressure pump (Has the Melling cast number on it). The Summit parts and tools I've ordered from them all seem to be of good quality.
Post up what you pull the trigger on, post purchase.

Lift does not tell you ramp rate. I wouldn't run a LS7 lifter on an aftermarket cam and would go for the Morel drop in. Morels have been great with a CamMotion Titan 4 with multiple HPDEs.

Be sure to measure pushrod length, and I would go with 11/32 diameter pushrods. Stability and correct preload will help the lifter live.

I've run GM LS7 lifters in my built LS7, same part# as the OP, for over 51,000 miles on a Cam Motion cam with .603"/.608" lift, 232°/250° duration, with no problems at all. Running PAC dual springs (also 51,000 miles!) with 420lbs open pressure. I also disagree that lift doesnt tell you ramp rate. Lift doesn't give an exact ramp rate number, but the less duration you have at a given lift number, the more rapid the opening and closing ramp rates are. Example: Hypothetical cam has .650" lift, and only 230° duration. It would have to have a much steeper ramp rate that a .590" lift cam, with 230° duration. Hope this makes sense......
