The evaporator has many very small passageways that are created by bumps and dimples in each of the stamped plates. When the plates are welded together by the brazing process, those bumps create the flow passages. No practical flushing method is perfect so any remaining fine debris from a trashed compressor that remain in the evaporator will find its way into the accumulator dehydrator and back to the compressor. For this reason, Delphi released a suction screen years ago as a service part. The screen fits into the suction port of the new compressor to further reduce debris that can makes its way into the compressor. You may want to get one of those if your 4 seasons compressor does not come with one.

I don't know what part @bookyoh is referring to but this GM Parts Direct website has an exploded view of the system. All it shows is an air filter on the evaporator but there may be something else if you put in your exact Corvette or look in a different sub-section of the HVAC parts. Delphi doesn't show any parts for the air conditioning system. I've never used their site before, maybe it's a discontinuted part?
There will be some degradation in a/c system performance because the screen adds restriction to gas flow returning to the compressor. My OEM compressor in my '99 has a slight leak in it's body o-ring joints. When I do get around to replacing the compressor, I will install a suction screen.
That is a liquid line filter that you purchased. Based on its appearance, it looks like you will need to cut your liquid line to splice in this filter.
Attached is an AC Delco service publication from 2005 that will provide more explanation into a/c system servicing.
