hello everyone, I just recently discovered this this website and have spent the past week reading past postings and I must say what a great resource of information all of you are. So I will get right to picking your brains, any and all help will be greatly appreciated. My passenger side window stoped working, I can hear the relay inside the door panel clicking when I press window button. Chevy dealer wants $400 to install window motor/regulator assy. I found a used part for $100 but do not know how difficult or dangerous this type of work may be. I know on other cars it may be spring loaded or under tension and I do not want to lose a finger or break the glass. thanks in advance for your help.

If you have the replacement regulator assy 1st to look at off the car the swap will make more sense. Remove the door panel, Remove a large black rubber shield (it's just glued inplace), This reveals a large access opening in the door shell. There are two vertical tracks with clamps that hold the glass in place, and a 13 mm nut on each clamp since the window is inop, you'll need to somehow reach in and loosen the two 13 mm nuts, (normally you would lower the window till the nuts reach an access hole) Once the clamps are loose you can just lift the glass straight up and out of the door. Then there are two rubber plugs on the underside of the door shell, remove those to expose two 10 mm bolts that hold the bottom end of the tracks to the door.
At the top of the door there are also two 10 mm nuts that hold the top of the tracks. In the center of the door there are I believe three 10 mm bolts that hold the motor assy to the door. There is also a black plastic loop snap the is pushed through a small hole in the door near the motor, You'll need to release it and push it through. Unplug the motor, get the regulator assy loose from the door, twist it around horizontally inside the door and pull it out through the large opening in the rear of the door. Then reverse to reinstall, basically that's it.
