Default Alternative Seats

The C5-C6 seats leave a lot to be desired.
I was considering C7/C8 seats as an upgrade and adding the wiring wouldn't be the end of the world until I came upon a steal on the best seats in an OEM car

10th Gen Civic Type R OEM front seats

The seats physically fit in the C5, but like most need the C6 seat belts.

Issue is... The driver side sliders are integrated to the seat frame.

It would take drilling out the rivets and that's irreversible to a maybe..

MIGHT be possible to flip the sliders to be more narrow but still wouldn't fit

C6 seats for measurement; slider end to end width is 16\"

Sliders on CTR seats are 19\" roughly.

For a closer look

So the plan is to drill out the sider riser "feet" for lack of a better term. Have these sliders mounted to hopefully a low flat seat mount that's wide enough.

Planted rails are too narrow at 17" wide and too tall at 2" higher.

Marrad Rails are 18" wide roughly which may work and sit low enough.

FDF seat brackets seem to give the most horizontal room however I have no measurements and no response back from them.

While costly it seems the only Off-The-Shelf option is

Pure Performance Rail Platforms

Shown is the side mount bracket vs slightly sloped bracket available. $650 per set seems high for what seems to be simple.

It seems I could have a plate cut in aluminum, add some spacer and the extended seat bolts others offer for an easy fit.

Just checking to see if anyone else knows options in case others may want to replicate this.

So much extra work to make these seats fit when the c7 seats drop right in, in about 5 minutes.

Good luck with your project man

That is true, I would much rather has GT C7 seats with lumbar, inserts, and the fan. However they're much more expensive and still hurt my back after 90 minute drives like my C7 GS did.

These CTR seats were from another friend's car that I can drive 4+ hours without pain! It'll be worth the hassle.

Wait, fan? Cooled seats?! I've only experienced that once and it was magic. Perhaps I should do a search in here for C7/8 seat swaps. That alone would make them worth it for me.

I have sat in them and they're a huge upgrade, but a high cost item. The base 1LT trim seats are also not great.
I would have gone with a C7 seat as well if I could find a GT seat set for under $3000 however it seems they're all high dollar items.

Both C7/8 seats would need a crossover harness for the passenger seat to have power which isn't a huge deal.
They also fit a bit higher in a C5/6 as well.

These CTR seats aren't ideal. Evo 9 Recaros would be an easier option. In my search I found the FDF seat mounts would likely be the closest off the shelf option but wasn't ideal.

The mounts in the wide configuration seem to be able to hit the width limit of the interior.

It's a great option! The C7/8 2LT trim seats have cooled seats that you can control fairly easily. The heater however is controlled by a BCM from the C7/8.
