I notice Dave and the Cartek guys are porting their intakes, I have been meaning to call and get info on this, I wouldn't mine shipping them mine for this while I have the engine torn down, anybody have any flow or dyno #'s on this, or know anyone else who has done this procedure, those sheet metal inakes are in the $1700 range and probably way overkill if youre not well past the 600+ hp range.---Thanks Bill
IMO you don't need the porting. I think on those plastic intakes all they do is port match to the heads (adds a few HP). If you had the Holley/LPE pile of dung you could port that, but...... $$$$
Stick with an LS6 intake and you should be fine.
The sheetmetal intake (I have one from SpeedInc/RGR) is really only meant for higher cube engines or those planning on spinning to 8000.
Craig at GTP has been working on the Weiand/Lingenfelter intake for awhile. Don't know if he's seen any gains or not. Here's a link http://gtp-racing.com/ ;)
Intel--Thanks thats about what I thought I'm just looking at all angles and for my SC as well, Hoping not to have to mod to this extend for awhile it seems I've been doing major projects for half the time i've had the car, I'm going to try to solve the sticky clutch problem with new hyd's while i'm down---Bill
Well with the SC I would tend to stay away from the LPE/Holley. To much heat soak on it and it would need to be ported. To extrude hone it is like $700 and then to counter the heat I would coat it. So right there you are getting closer to the sheetmetal intake. THe polished sheetmetal intake does look way cool though :D :D
My bet is that you will fine for awhile with the LS6, that will be your last restriction. If you want a lil more boost then in the future consider the SpeedInc intake to help that engine suck all that air in. Also the sheetmetal intake has an 80+mm TB.
