thanks for the links!

I have not messed with the intake. I cleared the code and the problem has not reoccured. I will be checking my intake and Air lines.

How difficult is it to change Bank 2 air check valve?

It's a pain in the butt, you'll probably have to remove the intake manifold. It's wedged between the firewall and intake manifold.

I just had this happen, and c4c5specialist and I had just "messed" with the exhaust (swapping out the Corsa Indys for PRT to help a friend decide what to do (X-pipe or not, PRTs or not).

While it could be a faulty valve, if it doesn't and hasn't recurred, leave it alone. Check the other spots, but don't look for something to fix.

The GM manual states that this code is set when the AIR pump is tested by the PCM during closed loop operation and both of the following conditions are met during pump test operation:
1. The right bank oxygen sensor voltage does not fall below 222mV for at least 1.2 seconds, and...
2. Short term fuel trim does not rise to a predetermined level (value undisclosed by GM)
Basically this means the O2 sensor is not reading enough pump air in the right side exhaust stream. (Alternate bank and dual bank faults set different codes)Some common causes are as follows:
1. Obstructed rubber air line to the exhaust check valve
2. Casting flash in the exhaust manifold (Check where the metal tube bolts to the manifold)
3. Clogged or stuck exhaust check valve
4. Check valve flowing both directions
5. Air leak in the air injection piping
6. Clogged vacuum purge (makes the AIR intake valve lock shut although it is electrically OK)

Others have reported loose exhaust manifold bolts as causing the problem and I can personally report that cleaning and reoiling my Blackwing coincided with the code going away. It also stands to reason that a marginal O2 sensor could also cause this. Also, be aware that this code can accompany (and be caused by) other code conditions such as P0101, P0102, P0103, P0107, P0108, P0112, P0113, P0117, P0118, P0300, P0325, P0327, P0335, P0441, P0502, P0503, and ay O2 sensor related codes. Happy hunting!!
