Default Paint fading

Why is my paint doing this all of a sudden? Slowly over the last 8-10 months... This is only on the upper surfaces, is not happening on the sides.

Has the car been kept in a garage or car port? Looks like sun oxidation, flat surfaces are prone and not the sides

I live in New Mexico at about 5,500ft elevation, see many cars with clear coat sun damage, you will probably have to sand the clear coat and have it reapplied.

From a technical and advanced painter:

You will need to find a talented individual with experience to Tactically wet sand and prepare the exsisting Clear

best to to achieve this by hand blocking with limited machine use as the Clear is thin due to UV degradation

This requires talent and knowledge to avoid breaking through to the base coat color level ...

There is some chance that the application of clear may or may not achieve the results you’re looking for

.... there is a chance that the solvents in the new Clear will cause chemical lifting of the modest degraded film left after

wet sanding .....

In other words you’re on a very fine line as to whether that clear will be successful

in addition to which there’s probably some modest color shift in the basecoat

.... all this being said with 194,000 miles on it as a driver not sure how much any of this is worth pursuing

Even though I am a painter ....and it isn’t really my favorite. ...maybe you would consider a wrap at this point

although that factory blue is sweet..

pm me if you feel like a paint chat
