I have a small leak somewhere in the rear end. The car is a 2003 AE has less the 3000 miles on it so going to the dealer for repair should be no big deal BUT has anyone else had a problem and if so what did they find? Just so I have some idea what if the dealer has a cue?? Also anybody in Phoenix know which dealers to use or stay away from...
This is another one of those annoying problems with the C5 that GM has known about for years and has never fixed. :mad :cuss I and many others on the forum have had this problem. Join the club and have it fixed.

Re: Rear Diff leaking! (Ja4play)
Depends on where the leak is coming from. My '00 had this problem and they ended up replacing the seal where the half-shaft goes into the differential on the driver's side.
It is a well known problem. There is usually no need to replace
any seals. It most likely is one of the cover plate bolts.
My "Master Vette Tech" at Casey Chevrolet in Newport News, VA
has repaired dozens of this problem with a simple technique he came up with.
He aslo submitted his findings to GM, but apparently they haven't acted on
it.

Well, I guess it's good to know that I'm not the first one with this problem. It didn't look to me like it was coming from the seal but it's drivers side in that general area. And your right what a mess. :mad all over the exhaust and baked on real good. Any slick ways to clean it that anyone knows?
My '02's rear differential leaked by the time I brought it home, new. 27 miles on the car. Took it back, twice. They finally replaced the ring, the plate, and whatever. 10,000 miles, and no problem.
HOWEVER, a buddy in our club has had his differential leak three times. Of all the C5's in our local club, at least one third, if not more, have had the problem.
A few issues back, our NCCC Region mag had an article that mentioned complaining to a member of the Corvette plant management team, last summer. He acted like it was new news!!
Just an update.. Just got car back from dealer..they said the drivers side axle seal was not seated completely and so put in a new one..everything appears to be OK. no door dings and they only test drove it 3 miles. I'm :D :D
