Hi,
I have read all the posts I can find about replacing the fron and rear springs, but I am still unclear on how to get the grooves in the support brackets lined up on installation. Since the spring will be at maximum arc, the rubber support bushings won’t align with the brackets exactly . Does anybody know a method to achieve this without buying the special spring compressor tool?
Do one end at a time with a jack under the control arm. With the load on the spring it will flatten out and should seat the pads in the grooves. Get both bracket bolts started to make sure its centered, and then go back and tighten them down with load on the spring.
