I've been telling myself that I need to upgrade gears/TC also, but any of those upgrades will result in traction issues. What good is power if you can't plant it?
So, then you're looking at different tires, possibly wheels, which cost more than your gear mod.
Ask yourself - how fast are you gonna go through those twisties? And can those speeds be accomplished by using gears 1 & 2?
Think twice - blow money once. :D

Maybe with the 3.73 with a higher stall TC you may have to think a little on a launch... but that would be the only instance.
Agreed; that with the more radical 3.90 or 4.10 you WILL have traction issues. running stock tires.
If so, there is no worry. AlGore has forbid all A4's from coming with the 3.15; so the G92 is ALWAYS on constraint since they all can't be built that way. But this "constraint" has never (as far as I've heard) actually delayed the building of a car.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
As stated earlier 2.73's shouldn't even be an option. . .3.15's aren't worth the money.
My .02 cents worth.
A4 2.73 4.90
A4 3.15 4.75
M6 3.42 4.60
Obviously, the 3.15s are better and I know the STOP meter will be better as well, but 0.15 ain't a whole lot. And "2.73s shouldn't even be an option" . . . come on!! I've never been a car that pulls so hard in 1st gear as my 2.73-equipped '01 coupe. I know it would be even better with lower gears, but it's pretty awesome as is. If any of you guys with the 3.42s are ever in Chapel Hill or Albemarle or Charlotte (will be moving there for a job soon), take me for a ride - I want to see just how quick it can be.
Also, on a 100 mile trip between Albemarle NC and Chapel Hill NC, I routinely AVERAGE 30 MPG and have an all-time high of 33!!! Pretty impressive given the performance of this car!!
Well, that's my $.02 . . . bring on the flames . . .
Although I agree it is impressive.
I have driven A4 C5's with 2.73, 3.15, and 3.42... all with stock TC.
All I can say is drive each one yourself. If you can't tell a difference, then I agree; save your money.
But, boy... I sure could tell a difference. And I might point out you are not wasting money with the G92 3.15 factory option. The 2.73's are worthless, but the G92 has the case that can accept the other ratios, or is worth what you paid for it if you swap out the entire carrier.
Even if you buy a brand new 3.42 carrier (which is what I did) and swap it for your 3.15 carrier... AND get no more money selling your 3.15 other than what is cost as an option; what you do get is free usage and the fun that goes along with it during the time the car is kept all original.
One other thing to consider is that going from the 3.15 to the 3.42 in a A4 requires no reprograming. period The factory 3.15 program has enough lee-way that it can handle the 3.42
But, going from the 2.73 to the 3.42 will require a reprog... which will cost as much or more that if you purchased the G92 option in the first place.
The 3.15 in a new A4 is a no-brainer. It's a win-win deal.
And don't let the "constraint" place fear with any delays. The G92 is on constraint at the get-go; from the very beginning of each model years run. But like I posted earlier, I have never heard of it actually delaying the building of a C5 by even one day.

Thanks again :flag
does your dealer have an available allocation?
They may not, and are using the 3.15 constraint as a ploy to hide the fact from you.
Agree the 2.73s are a joke, inspired by EPA. :D
