Long story short I have a 1997 c5 corvette and the gas pedal when pushed down does nothing. All dtc lead to the accelerator pedal position sensor. Replaced that and had no success. (With a Dorman unit part #699-102) Starting checking voltages at the harness and it seems that I don’t have a solid ground on one wire and I am missing voltage at one of my 5 volt reference wires.
I have seen the tsb about the TAC module but I don’t have the codes to that support that issue. Is it still worth checking the module, and if so what should I be looking for? Other wise I plan on checking the grounds under the battery as I know these earlier c5 vettes had issues with batteries leaking.
any help is appreciated currently stuck and don’t have a good path to follow on how to figure this out.
Your first mistake is using a Dorman part…their parts are JUNK !!…do you have a scan tool to look at all 3 APP sensor voltages ??…there are 3 separate signal wires along with a 5 volt reference and ground…do you see 3 signal voltages ??…if you did not see 5 volts at the connector did you check for 5 volts AT the TAC module ??…if you’re not seeing a signal voltage on the scan tool you can jump the 5 volt reference to the signal…if signal wire is good you should see 5 volts on the signal wire on the scan tool…you can use a test light connected to battery positive to check the grounds !!

yeah I am not a big fan of these Dorman products so I’m getting the oem one back on there and checking voltages at the TAC and the pedal again. Then I did find that there was a 30 amp fuse in the slot for the TAC module but it’s supposed to be a 15 amp. Any chance the wires burnt up due to way to high fuse for that circuit?
Possibly but that is something you’ll have to check !!
well I have done some more testing and now I have no voltage or any response from any wire for the app sensor at the TAC module, I’ve seen a lot of people on the forums talking about how the TAC module is the culprit for majority of APP sensor codes but I want to be 100% sure it is the TAC module and not sure where to go from here when I was getting some voltage at the pedal when I made the original post
