I have a 2001 Z06 - all stock aside from exhaust and a short shifter. Recently, the car developed a noise of some sort. Honestly don't know if it's a valvetrain thing, exhaust leak, or belt. It's squealing sounding some but also has a ticking noise. The car is quiet until it warms up. When I got it out today, the sound started when the oil temp got up to around 100. Oil pressure seems fine, around 50-ish and the car otherwise drives just fine - nothing noticeable anyway aside from the new noise. Also noticed the sound seems to follow the revs.
The car is headed to a shop in a couple of weeks to swap the stock valve springs with a dual spring setup. I'll have them evaluate the sound as well. But, I figured I'd snap a couple of quick videos and see if anyone had any thoughts.
Of course it's hard to tell in a video. My first guess would be to thoroughly check your pulleys and harmonic balancer. But it could be lifter tick as well, or a loosened rocker. Follow the sound.
