Default Question for LMC5 users ?

I just recently installed the LMC5 on my 99 6spd. Previously I was only getting the Service Column Lock message. Since installing I was careful to turn the key on let it scan then start the car. No issues doing it that way. Today I forgot jumped in and turned the key without waiting. I got the pull key wait 10 sec message for the first time ever. I'm wondering if I will still be ok if I go back to waiting before starting or if this is a sign I will need to do the brown wire mod. Anyone have this same experience if so what did you do ? Thanks !

I'm trying to find some clear instructions on the brown wire mod installation. I still have my LMC5 paper work just don't have it in front of me now. Hopefully it will have clear pictures I can look at. I saw a video someone posted. They said just pull the large pink connector flip it over and remove the grey clip. Then remove dark green wire from 3rd hole and insert brown wire. Cap the dark green wire then cut the brown loop in half , install small black caps. Reinstall grey clip, plug large pink connector back in, hook neg battery cable up and your done. Does this sound right ? Also wondering if you turn the Key to ON and wait for dash to scan before you start the car. I have never done that until reading where LMC5 customers say it's a good thing to do. I know if you take the car in for a State Inspection they are not going to do that.

I went ahead and did the brown wire mod. I think I agree with Johns garage video saying he should of just done the brown wire mod while he was installing the LMC5. I will say I felt a little more comfortable going back in there the second time. Hopefully this will take care of the pull key wait 10 sec message.

Did you have problems getting the connector unhooked, mine is same the LMC5 was installed before I got it without the brown wire mod and occasionally I get the pull key message so I let it sweep first and no problem. Tried to get that connection unhooked to do the mod but it didn’t seem to want to budge and was afraid I might break something.
