In pretty much any gear (MN6), at various rpm levels, I'm finding the first 1/10th of throttle position seems to be more jerky than usual. What happens is that I'll be sitting in traffic, say in 2nd gear, fairly low rpms and I'll accelerate, but the car will jerk forward when I try to smoothly apply gas, and jerk back when I take my foot off the gas. It makes driving in traffic annoying, since I'm jerking back and forth no matter how smoothly I try to accelerate and decellerate. Anyone had this problem, or have any ideas? Throttle position sensor maybe?
My 2001 has some kind of similar problem... maybe. I call it surging. Especially when it is cold outside, Since I installed a Vararam intake, the car has this jerk occasionally when barely into the gas pedal. I removed the honeycomb in front of the MAF. No one seems to know what is causing it. It is a bit anoying... and embarrasing.
I'm getting dyno tuning done in the next couple of weeks, so hopefully that problem will go away with a better a/f ratio. My last mod was long tube headers, so from what I've read a lean condition would make sense. Thanks for the replies!
