ttt...VStella just did a great report on the new SS series from Yank....there's a lot of talk on the subject already, a quick search will produce several threads and that may help narrow down your search

You would also do very well to consider the YANK ST 3500 that Redgar mentioned. In either case, click here for a lot of usable information when considering upgrading your converter: http://www.converter.cc/
Do you plan on using street tires, drag radials, or slicks?
If your only going to use street tires or drag radials, the SY3500 is a great converter. You'll probably still have a difficult time hooking up, but not as bad as going with a ST3500.

:iagree:
Mike is right I have the ST3500 and 3.73s you definately need at least DRs to hook up. The ST3500 is an awesome converter with great street manners, but the SY3500 would be better if you are going to be using street tires.
I am currently running a SY3500 with my 3.73s. (A perfect street racer setup if you're into that sort of thing, shame on you if you are. :nono: ) I like it with street tires a lot but from time to time wish I had gone with the SY4000. I'm swapping to the SS3800 soon as I plan to try to get to the track more this season. :banghead:

When I get my trans rebuilt, I'm going to send the converter to Yank and have them restall it to 4000 for me. IIRC, they only charge $250.

Re: torque converter suggestions (MC98)
:iagree: Mike and MC are absolutely correct. Street manners on both are great. I just see so many fellow modders going to better traction tires in the rear that I figure that to save money in the long run, you might want to get the converter with the better launch from a dead stop...and that would be the ST 3500.
If, on the other hand, you don't think that you will ever be getting a more aggressive tire, then I STRONGLY encourage you to take Mike and MC's advice and get the softer hitting SY 3500.
My own philosophy is to at least TRY and save some money down the road by attempting to anticipate what my future needs may be in terms of performance. I don't like doing things twice - or three times in the case of my converter setup. Just thought to try and save you a few bucks by not having to upgrade to a higher performing converter down the line. :yesnod:

ANY aftermarket torque converter is better than the stock converter...IMO! BUT..If you don't invest in a set of Drag Radials ..don't bother ...you will just spin..spin...spin...Been there and done that!! :yesnod: Street tires and a 3.73 rear is not a good combination..there will little or NO traction
BTW..If you haven't installed the Transgo shift kit..DO IT!! You have NO idea what your missing..and you can't accomplish the same result with programming..no way..no how..Just my .02:D Good Luck!
