IIRC, the maximum underhold air pressure area in the C5 is 14"-17" behind the hood's leading edge. By placing the hood vent at that location you allow the high pressure air to escape, which not only reduces front end lift, but also great improves the efficiency of the fluid cooling systems, resulting in lower fluid temperatures. Granted some may say that the TrackSpec T1 & GT1 center vents may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, say on the street or at a Cars & Coffee events, but form does follow functionality (gee, I wonder wonder why all the Spec Corvette race cars are equipped with the T1 vents?). That is beauty in itself. If you have ever done track day events before and after installation of said hood vents, you would already know their benefits. You can furfure greatly improve the performance of the TrackSpec T1 & GT1 center hood vents by installing their front edge flow wickers, which produce a low pressure area above the vent opening that in turn pulls additional air through the vent at higher velocities.

This entire thread kind of reads as though what we really need is Marc over at VetteNuts to find someone who can put the MCM molds back into service.
