I recently purchased a 2001 Corvette, the car has the steering column lock light on but, the steering isn't actually locked. It came with all the service history from 2001 in a huge booklet and in there I found that the steering lock had been an ongoing issue several times. It also had the recall done but was taken again and again and again for the same issue over the years. I read in the service history that the steering actuator was replaced. I know this issue is common and has been beaten to death but, my steering isn't actually locking contrary to what I am seeing online. I am thinking of taking it back to the dealer and see if this recall was addressed correctly any pointers here?
I just went thru this. If you find a LMC5 installed, snap a pic of the serial number. You may need it when contacting Compliance Parts. Also note wire colors or take a pic of the relays above the BCM in the pass foot well. He will want to know abt that too.
I installed mine years ago and it helped with the "removed key, wait 10 secs error" but still got it occasionally, more so recently. Just did the "brown wire mod". So far, so good. There's a video of the install and subsequent "brown wire mod". in the link. See post #21. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...nd-wait-2.html
