Default Question about cartek X package

1) Does it require piston flycutting on the stock shortblock?
2) Are the people making >450rwhp using a ported LS6 intake manifold?

(please dont make this thread into a flame war)

Good idea, somebody go ask him and lemme know. OR, people with the combo on their own car could answer.

Not sure about the piston flycutting, I think so, but I'm not 100% on that. But I do have a ported LS6 intake.

Thanks, thats pretty much what I was figuring. I'm guessing the LGM package is at least flycutting the pistons but I'm not sure on the intake.

I'll have to see if my head porter does ported LS6 manifolds. When I contacted cartek they (understandably) said they couldn't do it for my heads since they don't know the shapes of the ports from my porter.

I wonder what the X package does with a stock unmodified manifold compared to the modded one...info like that would be really good to have. Might be time for me to dig into things a bit more.

Yeah, I was told it's a pretty mild port, matched to the heads. I'd guess it's worth maybe 5hp.

Default Re: Question about cartek X package (C5_PIG)

I have been told by the boys at Cartek that if i went with the x package on my A4 minimal fly cutting would be necessary so i believe the answer is yet. Like suggested about, must call Dave at Cartek to find out for sure for your specific application/goals, etc.

Well there we go. Ok, thanks for the input. Just when things were starting to make sense cartek goes and posts 474rwhp with a small cam, which I assume no longer needs flycutting.

"What's really amazing about the whole cartek x package is that it appears that they do not use that radical of a cam at all and its on a 113lsa. I do belive (educated guess) the new x package & upgrade cam that made the 470+rwhp will most likely also still have to be fly cut b/c of the amount of milling to the heads that Cartek does, to get that Compression Ratio to where they want it (probably 11:1).

Best of luck.
