Hello guys I just bought a c5 and I’m having a little trouble with it. I was driving home one day and all of a sudden my car didn’t want to kick out of first gear btw I have an auto, the car just kept revving and it would go to 7000rpm wouldn’t go back down till I released the gas I pulled over made sure it was in D and it kept doing it, it would go from first to second then wouldn’t let me keep into the next gear. I had to make it home so I drove it slow and after a while I got a check engine light and a warning for high trans temp! Please if you know what it is to fix my car please help me!

You can start by checking that the transmission has the proper fluid level. The car has to be raised on a level surface with the engine running and the transmission at the proper temperature in order to check the level.

Honestly, I would say your tranny needs a rebuild or replacement. I highly doubt fluid will fix that unless there isn't any.....Sorry......Been there done that...

You determined the need for a transmission overhaul or replacement from your keyboard, interesting.
Sounds exactly like low fluid to me. Revving the engine when nothing is happening trying to make it do what it refuses to do is the exact recipe for causing more damage. Dude, just....don't.
If the fluid is low start by putting some trans conditioner in it. Lucas works well. IF the cause was low fluid levels and you just kept gassing it to make it go, then the trans overheated, I agree with the rest. That stunt is going to cost you a new transmission.
Brake fluid, transmission, differential, coolant, ALL these fluids need changed at intervals to keep your car in proper working order. Ignoring warning signs and overheating components are going to cost you big $$, especially if you can't do it properly yourself. Instead of enjoying your Corvette, all you'll be doing is throwing bandaids at it until you are fed up and sell it. Hope adding fluid fixes your problem.
how are the trans temps?
agree-- CHECK THE FLUID. and report on the codes.
EVEN IF the fluid was low and replacing the fluid fixes everything, bring it into the shop for a check. They can drop the pan, make sure the seal is OK, do required maintenance.
If the fluid isn't low, then there's not a heck of a lot you can do at your home, you'll likely need to have it diagnosed by a pro.
Why are you revving it to 7000 RPM? What will that fix?
If you rev the engine hard enough sometimes you can free up a stuck transmission pushrod to help push the car forward. You have to really keep your foot in the gas for it to work.
Ok that’s enough joking. I feel bad for the OP his engine light is on too now hoping he doesn’t have an engine problem as well.
Adding snake oil is unlikely to be beneficial. Just fill it with the proper fluid and see if further diagnosis is needed.
Lucas is not snake oil. It isn't rebuild in a can, but it CAN help. I've driven several hundreds of thousands of miles for the USPS in my own vehicle over the years. Seen at least one transmission problem over the years that I can recall.. Lucas can buy you time, or I've had it keep things going. Doesn't rebuild the trans, but I've seen it make a difference in transmission and power steering pumps. I've also seen it do nothing. At $20 its not going to hurt. Revving the engine to 7k trying to get home - thats a long shot.

just had a rear main seal done and all fluids changed don’t think it’s that!
