Hello. Can someone give me some insight of the specs of the rear diif/axle setup size etc...on a 2001 base automatic corvette. From what I've researched, I'm guessing it's around a GM 10bolt, 8.5" diff, 1.25 axle and 29 spline, but I can't seem to find an exact answer.
Thanks,
Jay Dee

I'm just curious to see how strong the rear end setup is compared to other years because I'll be in the hunt for a vette in the near future and am looking at c4s and c5s. I would do some bracket racing with it on various weekends. Basic bolt ons and gears

Sounds like the C5 Differential may be a little different than what you are used to.

My C4 had a Dana 36 I believe. C5s have GETRAG differential units that are bolted to the rear of the transmission, yes on a C5 the transmission is in the rear of the vehicle. If stock and unmolested, a base 2001 automatic corvette will have a 2.73 axle ratio unless it has the optional 3.15 gear. Manual corvettes came with 3.42 axle ratio. Looks like you have much to learn good luck.

My C5 is set up this way. Full bolt on with an RPM stage 2 differential and 3.73 gears, yankSS3200 stall. I had the differential and converter installed at a shop. To complex for me. If you’re going to do bracket racing or any type of hard launches, you will need drag radials with this setup. I do HPDE too, that’s why I did the 3200 converter, no converter whine on a road course. 3600 or 4000 stall will launch harder, but might also tear up the stock tranny.
