Transmission shake after changing radiator (automatic)
My radiator cracked, so I replaced it (along with coolant sensor and oil pressor sensor). After starting her back up she seemed to purr like a kitten, till I put it into gear I got a transmission shake and noise (nothing I’ve heard before and I’ve had this car for 8 years). I did have a little transmission fluid come out when replacing radiator but didn’t seem like a lot (planning on doing a flush soon) so didn’t think it’d be a problem. Any ideas on what this could be?
Maybe the transmission was already a little low on oil , I would check the oil level to verify, I know that it's not as simple as checking a dip stick as most cars.
You lost the fluid that was in the radiators atf cooler section as well as what spilled. It’s a good time to change it out but your probably a couple quarts low. The process is annoying but not hard.
If your DIY you will need a pump for fluid transfer. It helps to have a wand with right angle on the end. I made one from 3/8th copper tube and a 90deg fitting from Home Depot. I used some solder to keep the joints together but JB weld would work.
At least check transmission fluid level. Engine running, in park after shifting through all gears, at 122 degrees F on DIC fluid should be level with the bottom of the fill/ level check plug hole.
