I have noticed when starting up after a few days sitting or when cold my 2K auto will surge forward a bit on initial start, as if the clutches are somewhat engaged. The trans has 124,000 and as far as I know it is untouched. I have no experience with a 4L60, is this a trait of this trans or something more devious? TIA
Not worried about it getting away, just curious. Like others mentioned it is just a small movement. Must be a GM thing, I bought a 2024 Malibu new yesterday and it does it as well. The lever actuated parking brake is only good for getting the rear end to come around in the snow when the front's start understeering...
You have gotten a lot of life from the 4l60e lol
If your in park and surging forward and converter was locked I’d imagine you would stall like a 6 speed would.
I’m not a transmission guy so take my comments as such. Could be as simple as a fluid filter service or maybe a servo that is easy to access at the same time.
Could be a failing converter or transmission that needs replaced. If that’s the case then the transmission is coming out. Refresh the transmission if it comes out. That’s and a Re manufactured converter should be around $600 not including labor to pull the transmission and reinstall.
Pulling and reinstalling is a whole different conversation.
If the transmission has had the same fluid and filter for 124,000 miles it is time for a fluid and filter change. My A4 has 120,000 miles, 28 days on road course race tracks and approximately 10,000 wide open throttle upshifts from 2nd to 3rd on it. But I have changed fluid and filter five times and only use Red Line full synthetic fluid. The car does not move at startup.
