Default Oil pump install ?

Installing the melting oil pump and having a heck of a time getting the pickup tube in. Any tips? Also using the black O ring but attached are some pics of the pickup tube and stock O ring if y’all want to lend a thought. Thanks.

Pic is not super clear, so you will have to be sure what style pickup tube you have (visually and measuring). Given that the old o-ring is neither red nor blue(from what I can see in the pic), I would be checking the o-ring cross section with a caliper as well. Pretty much zero room for error here. Wrong o-ring size....no oil pressure. Roll the o-ring on install....no oil pressure.

Melling pump direction. Tapered from .84 to .87 is Figure 1 (Green). Strait .87 is figure 2 (Black).
