Default HUD problem

I am having a concern with the HUD display. The pattern will only display on the lower part of the windshield. Moving the control the pattern will go below the vision level but will only come up to the very bottom of the glass. Is there an another lens or project adjustment somewhere? Shop manual don't say much. Any input appreciated.
Thanks Ed

Is the whole display showing and the bottom of it is at the bottom of the windshield? If that is true, it won't move up much more before you start losing the top of the display. In other words, normal position is near base of windshield. If the complete display is not showing or you want to move it a little higher, you have some work to do. There is a gear in the unit that moves the mirror for the display. There is also a plastic pin that acts as a hinge for the mirror. That pin is a common weak point and often breaks. When that happens the mirror will start to fall and not display properly. It is also possible someone already fixed the pin but the gear is off a tooth. The fix requires removing the top of the dash and removing the HUD. If you do a search you will find a number of threads and videos explaining how to fix this. It's not difficult but takes the better part of a day. Have fun.

You hit the nail on the head. Pulled the dash, gauge cluster and HUD assembly. Gears stripped and bushing gone. Picked up a repair kit less than 20 bucks. Will fix mirror movement, install gauge trim rings, and add on a double din while everything is open. Kind of major surgery. Also easy to clean all the lenses at this time.

Probably goes without saying but be sure to check the movement of the HUD before you put the dash back on. Don't need to take it apart twice.
