I was driving home and I missed 4th and went into 2nd for about a second. Everything seems okay though I heard something rattling but I’m not sure what it is it sounded like it was coming from the rear but when I got off the freeway I went through up to 4th and they all seemed fine. The other thing when I did it a tiny amount of clear liquid came up the windshield from the engine bay which I’m even more confused about cause it came through both sides of the vents
edit: I also checked the engine bay, and under the car and there’s no traces of the liquid anywhere. Nothing seemed to be leaking and it only came out right as I missed the gear. I was probably only going about 60 I wasn’t flooring it like crazy but I was probably at 4-5k rpm in 3rd
Maybe when you bulldogged it into second gear, the g-forces caused some rain water/windshield wiper fluid to rush forward and then flow back up the windshield.
I would not worry about anything until more noises/fluids continue so that a proper analysis can be done.
A mechanical over rev due to a missed shift can cause valve float where the engine spins at too high of an RPM for the valve springs to maintain control of the valves. When this happens the valves can come into contact with the piston. This is where you end up with a bent pushrod, bent valve, or both.
At a minimum I would pull all the pushrods and check to make sure they’re not bent. They can be severely bent but the engine can appear to run fine with no engine codes. Over time bent pushrods can break and best case leave you stranded, worse case cause damage to the engine. If it were my car I’d also run a cylinder leak down test on all cylinders to make sure you don’t have a bent valve. Unfortunately I have first hand experience with this but got lucky with just bent pushrods which are cheap and easy to replace.
