Hello i have a 04' C5 corvette, i recently took over my brothers car which he would not drive very much, he recently passed away and i took over the car, when i brought it back home i ran the OBD scanner and everything was green but then the EV light up red and blinking, i am trying to see what this could be, i am trying to see if anyone has had the same issue before, this car needs smog and it hasn't been smog since 2022, i do remember that he removed the battery when it would just stay at his house, someone mentioned to me it could be that it needs a new battery, another person suggested that i keep driving it which i have, just wondering if anyone has had this issue and how to resolve it, i am in California, thank you all in advance
When the battery is disconnected the computers lose most of the data they have stored, like emissions data. So you'll need to drive the car even if everything is working perfectly until enough data is stored so the computer will tell the emissions inspection computer what it needs to.
Is your EV light on your scan tool or is this something you are seeing on the car somewhere?
My guess is it's related to the lack of data available since the battery was disconnected but you should be able to look at exactly what code is being shown and C5 Diag can probably tell you what they mean if you don't have your own list.
If all your IM Monitors ran and then showed green but now your EVAP Monitor shows red you may have a pending trouble code stored…not familiar with that scan tool but I think it’s a Harbor Freight one…see if you have any pending DTC’s and if so whatever code you have will need to be addressed…the EVAP monitor is the hardest to complete…below is the drive cycle you will need to do to complete the EVAP monitor…YOU MUST FOLLOW THIS DRIVE CYCLE EXACTLY AS IT IS WRITTEN…or find someone that can do a “Service Bay Test” that takes less than 5 minutes…a factory level scan tool will be needed for this.
Hello everyone , I looked up what the EV was and it stated it is for evaporating monitor for the pollution , so it was for the fuel tank vapor , someone told me it could be the gas cap not making a good seal, so I bought a new gas cap today and turned it on and put the scanner and it fixed the issues and every turned green
