So, we were driving around 30 km (18 miles), using the AC for a long time because it was the summer season (over 30 degrees Celsius).
We took a break at a nearby convenience store. My passenger and I smelled gasoline, which wasn't unusual for us because we often notice this smell.
However, when we turned the engine back on and drove another 1-2 km (1 mile), suddenly white smoke started coming out from the AC vents and the engine area. This problem has occurred twice this year, and almost every year…
We replaced the cooling system a few months ago. And now this...
Did it continue, or did it just blow what I suspect is condensation for a while, then clear up? When running for extended periods, the evaporator get's good and cold (the whole point of it) and then when you shut the system off, water will condense on the coils. Most of it collects and exits through the drain onto the ground, but some may still be on the coils on start up and blow out the vents as a form of cold fog.
Fuel smell most likely will get resolved with a filter change. I had the same issue on may 1997 when I first got it. No visible leaking but could smell fuel in the garage when the tank was over half full. I felt with this for a couple years, then changed out the filter and it went away.
I agree this could be condensation. I'd check coolant levels, to be safe. Whenyou ge the white fog from the vents did you smell anti freeze?
