Automatic oil pump noise
I have a 04 with an automatic trans. Over the weekend I developed a sporadic whine coming from the rear of the car, regardless if in gear or park. There is no rhyme or reason when the noise will present itself but it's definitely coming from the rear of the car. Total mileage is 43K and the car has always been service regularly. Assuming it's the automatic trans oil pump what would such a repair cost? The trans would have to be removed and I assume the transmission taken apart? I have to decide at which point is it worth investing any more money in this car.
