Default Headlight question

I began this thread in C5 Tech, because it involves tools, and recently made repairs.

I had to replace the driver's side headlight motor 2 weeks ago, and due to work and weather, haven't had the car out since, but everything worked properly when I was done.

This morning, I was wiping-down the dashboard & interior, and flipped the switch for the lights, which opened and lit-up properly. However, upon turning them off, the lights went-out, and both headlights returned to the closed position, but THIS time, the driver's side light re-opened, without the light coming on.

When to turn the switch to enable the marker / parking lights to work, they do-so, but twisting the switch to turn-on the headlights, the driver's side cover lowers, then raises with the passenger side light, and the headlights are both on.

Like I say, when first repaired, I had no problems, so I don't know what is causing this issue.

Any ideas? Thanks-in-advance.

Thoughts: check to see if all the bump stops are attached. Disconnect the wiring connection from the motor and control module making sure all are clean and fit tightly.

Thanks to those who offered advice.

"Apparently", although I tightened everything when I replaced the headlight motor last month, the arm driven by the motor had enough lateral 'wobble' barely hit the plastic stop, and it had begun shaving the corner off said stop:
I flipped the stop, took the arm off the motor and bent it about 1/4" inward, towards the stop, re-assembled everything, and it seems to be working flawlessly.

Again, thanks for the help!

OK, I cleaned the connections and lubicated gears. After opening and closing the headlights 3 or 4 times, the left headlight failed to open. Retracted the lights; Checked the motor adjustment ****. The left motor adjuster was closed tight. Manuall turned the motor until the headlight cover started to open. Opened and closed the headlights 3-4 times , worked fine, then again failed to open, The manual motor adjustment was again closed tight. Any ideas?

You describe what sometimes happens to my passenger light. When I back off the manual adjustment it will work. But after driving a few weeks the same no flip will occur. Once again will back off the up light manual adjustment and it will work for awhile. MYSWAG, just driving somehow tightens the adjustment. Oh well, just another anomaly with a DIY workaround fix to enjoy driving ther C5.
