Default Fuel filler neck replacement

So I have the classic "Vehicle is difficult to fill with fuel" issue. I know the replacement fuel filler hose was discontinued by GM and is apparently unavailable everywhere. I also know that the fuel system on the 04's are the same as what is on the 05. Can I get a fuel filler neck out of an early C6 and use that? Or am I just SOL until I stumble on a used one somewhere?

I am going to move this over to the C5 Tech section where I hope someone can answer your question on the compatibility of the C6 part with the C5.

This can be a very tricky one. Although I have no direct experience personally a good friend has a major problem with his C6 GS. It came down to collapsed line in the crossover for him.
Could you be more specific wrt how the "vehicle is difficult to fill"?

Basically if I go to fill and use any of the "auto" options, I can get maybe 2-6 gallons in the tank before it shuts off. I then have to manually hold the handle at the slowest speed possible to trickle fuel in until it's full

This doesn’t seem as severe as my buddies issue.
I’ll copy and paste your symptoms to him and pass along what he says.

I got some replies that might help you.

“Yup. Charcoal canister is almost certainly full of fuel. And they are mounted semi vertical so once the fuel is inside it can never drain out”

and…

“One of 2 problems my car had. I also had collapsed fuel lines (which caused the canister issue)”

Hopefully this is of some use.
