C5 Bose with Axxess csvi interface
I bought my c5 about a year ago and the first thing I did was replaced the stock head unit with an Alpine ILX-W650. I used the Axxess csvi-2004 interface and left the factory speakers in place. I never liked the way it sounds, so I replaced the twiddlers and the rear speakers.
I still hate the way it sounds so I now am going to replace the woofers in the door with a good pair of 6.5 inch coaxials. I will be removing the 3.5 inch speakers that I previously installed in place of the twiddlers.
I am also going to install the Alpine KTA-450 amp that is designed to mount on the back of the ILX-650.
my question is can I just leave the AXXESS interface installed and simply wire the speaker wires from the amp into it? I realize that I would have to reverse the polarity of the wires to the door speakers.
Is this the way to go, or should I just tear out the interface, and start from scratch on the wiring?
I really don’t care about retaining the RAP functionality, as it is flaky anyway.
thanks
I have all the components to swap in aftermarket amps and speakers + subwoofer (actually had it all for years now
).My plan there would be to run new speaker wire, and probably still retain the XSVI-2004 for RAP functionality... even if flaky, it might still be better than nothing. Without the XSVI you'd need some other switched/accessory power source, which sounds like it's available in the passenger footwell fuse box: either fuse #22, or a spare yellow wire that's taped up.
It probably wouldn't work to tie in the KTA-450 to the factory head unit wiring because the signal out of the head unit would be pre-amp levels that go to the Bose amplifier. I suppose you could grab the factory speaker wires from the Bose amp and connect those to the KTA-450 (and deal with polarity as-needed).
