Default Codes everywhere and a simple solution.....

About a month ago, my '00 cluster would stay blank after start-up, then pop to life down the road. Car still ran perfect. I figured it was possibly a sign of the battery getting old, so checked it and the battery was still good. Checked grounds for cluster, they were in good condition, but I cleaned them anyway. Checked fuses, fine. Did not check codes (yeah, I know)....

Problem continued for a couple weeks, then on my way to work one morning, all hell broke loose. Cluster lit up like a Christmas tree, many messages on the DIC.
When I checked codes (yep, shoulda done that first thing), EVERY module in the car had something, except the driver's door module, which listed as "No Comm". A-ha!

Reading a couple threads on here, C5Diag and Bill Curlee both said that the issue was in the connectors to the drivers door module within the accordian between the door and body. They posited that either a wire had gotten worn through, or the female part of the power/ground connectors needed to be checked for connection. In my case, it turned out to be the latter, which I fixed by using a small pick on the female pins to close them up.

Buttoned up the car, went back into the diagnostics tool in the car, cleared all codes and checked again. The drivers door module was now reporting in, and every module reported back as clear. Been a week, and still no codes. Gotta like a simple fix like that.

Thanks, C5Diag and Bill!

Had to replace the driver's side door - will get right on that. Thank you for the tip. Would be too easy after many hours of cleaning all the grounds.
