Default Service Column Lock

New to this site...
Just purchased a 2002. battery went dead in a few days and when i jumped the car i got a message "SERVIVE COLUMN LOCK" Anyway I read sever al notes on this and I'm still confused.
One post said that this could be caused by low voltage battery. I have a low battery that will be replaced today/tomorrow. Will this resolve the issue? Can I drive the car? Do I need to have to towed to the repair shop?
Next post indicated that the car is drivable an dill not lock up while driving
Next post indicated that the car could possibly lock up while driving
Next post indicated that this is actually an anti theft mechanism. Lots of contradictions going on
I'M TOTALLY LOST ON THIS.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance
BTW my plate is HART ATK. reason is that I purchased the car and has a hart attack while driving it home> I love this car

Contact Compliance Parts... They can help you. A dealer or shop will charge you hundreds or possibly thousands and not fix the problem.

Welcome aboard and good luck!

Good advice to contact Compliance Parts concerning their LCM5 product.

And moving this to C5 Tech for more discussion.

This is a common problem on the C5 as stated by others get the LMC5 kit from compliance parts and follow the detailed instructions that comes with the kit. Takes less than 30 minutes to install. Do the brown wire mod that comes with the kit while you’re in there. Brown wire mod keeps the messages from appearing in the DIC.
