I drove my 2004 C5 about 150 miles today toward the end of my trip I noticed I had a "Service Tire Monitoring System XXX". I pulled into a parking lot to see if I can determine if a certain tire caused the message. The message did not change. I put the car in drive had my foot on the brake and did not touch the gas pedal, all of a sudden, the engine accelerated and with my right foot on the brake has hard as I could press the car started moving forward. I immediately shut the car off, started it up again and message was still on, and the engine ran fine. Drove it about 7 miles home, when I started to put it into the garage the engine acceleration did it again luckily, I had my foot on the brake. What are your thoughts what is causing this. I am taking this to a service center to see if there are any codes associated with this. I know I can get the codes myself, but I don't want to inadvertently erase any codes.
There were no codes associated with the throttle issue. Don't know what to do at this time.
In regard to the tire monitoring system, I had new tires and sensors installed recently, they installed aftermarket sensors that according to the manufacturer where compatible for my car. They found that their sensor programming tool could read the pressure, but the car couldn't. My service person is going to purchase GM sensors and install them at no charge and only charge the difference between the current sensors and the GM.
