1999 FRC manual A/C problem
The manual A/C system will now only activate the compressor when in either the "defrost/floor" or "defrost" setting. In these 2 settings the A/C light comes on and the air is cold.
In these settings, I cannot turn the A/C compressor off by pushing the a/c button - it remains illuminated with the a/c running. The air is cold in these settings.
In the "face/vent" setting - the bilevel setting and the floor setting, the A/C light does not illuminate and the compressor does not kick on. In these settings, pushing the a/c button does not cause the light to illuminate or flash or activate the compressor.
The refrigerant pressure is showing approximately 35 psi.
The door settings are functioning properly with the air being distributed according to the dial.
The fan speed settings are all working properly.
Today - for the first time - I pulled a P0645 code on the PCM. This happened after removing and inspecting the a/c control relay. Cleared it - ran the system as above - no code set.
Compressor appears to be running fine - refrigerant line by the battery tray is cold.
Since the A/C control relay responds to the dial in defrost mode, I assume it is functioning properly.
