The transmission and differential as well as fluids are two different things. For the transmission, you do not need an additive. For the differential, you do.

You only need the diff additive if the diff fluid you choose doesn't have it already. Example, AMSOIL diff fluid has the additive already in it. You have to verify if your chosen diff fluid has the additive or not.
