I just need to find a good “how too” thread on it so that I don’t make any mistakes.
How to threads are typically riddled with mistakes, shortcuts, and all around incompetency. If you want to take that chance, it is your car and your money. I have a novel idea, obtain and use the factory service manual or if you cannot get one at least get an ALLDATA DIY account.
I ordered a diff this morning, and as everyone has collectively agreed there’s likely torque tube damage I will pull the torque tube tomorrow, I just need to find a good “how too” thread on it so that I don’t make any mistakes. My brain is completely fried and classes start back up tomorrow but I’ll try to be as careful as I can with the torque tube.
There are a few good DIY torque tube rebuild videos on YouTube. Do you have easy access to a press to replace the bearings if they need replacing? If not you'll likely need a shop with a press to assist on those steps.

Don't trust "a mechanic" for drivetrain work on these cars, ESPECIALLY the tube. It's an odd setup that's specific to these cars. I'm sure you can follow a YT video well enough just make sure you pay attention to the little details. Check the tip on your prop shaft, if it doesn't look good get a new one from TX drivetrain performance. Don't pull the tube to the motor with the bolts, it will crack your bellhousing. Make sure you get it mated up snug then tighten the bolts.
If you want to have your shifter box or linkage upgraded let me know. Upgrading the box will make the shifter feel a ton better and doing the linkage will eliminate a lot of rattle you get from the factory ends on the linkage. I'm sure your not looking for more things to do but you have to drop the gearbox to upgrade the linkage as you know now.
