I just had my 1999 C5 at Corvette Specialists in San Dimas to get all the dash lights to stop flashing, Rich changed the ignition switch and the door panel; seat, door lock, window control and now the gauges work but it doesn't show the milage or codes, does anyone know someone who works on Corvette Electronics. Prior to this I replaced the BCM with one I got from Carparts.com.
Any comments will be appreciated.
Thanks, Skip
What about Rich at Corvette Specialists ??…they are specialists so they should know how to diagnose this…Corvettes don’t have some magical electrical system so find an auto electric shop in your area….these shops can diagnose electrical systems on ANY car…..”electronics” is something different…what do you mean by “code reader doesn’t work” ??…not much to go on here.
Hi, thanks for your comments but I have had the Vette at Corvette Mikes, MK Smith Chevrolet and neither could fix the code reader problem, maybe Rich thought I was beyond my budget and returned my car to me. I am very happy with the efforts Rich did for me.
Again, if someone knows an electronic repair shop in the Corona, Riverside, Chino, Ontario region I would appreciate their information, I believe they need to have experience with GM Electronic systems. Thanks again, Skip
GM cars or Corvettes do NOT have any special kind of electrical system…most Corvette shops are poor at electrical diagnostics…we really don’t call it “electronic systems”…I’m kind of hazy on what you mean by “code reader problem” ??…what problem is it and what can they not fix ???…a scan tool needs power from pin 16 and pins 4 and 5 which are chassis and signal ground on the DLC to work…just Google auto-electric shops in your area !!
C5 Diag, hi and thank you for your comments, by electronics I mean the mileage does not show when starting the car, the buttons on the right for fuel, mileage, tire pressure, etc. do not work. These are the electronics I am trying to get operating. I believe taking the Vette to someone who might be familiar with them reduces the time of searching and wasting hours and more focus on understanding the problem. Thanks again, Skip
The Corvette is not the only car to have an IPC…any auto electric shop can diagnose it but if you think only a Corvette shop or a dealer can fix it you can take it there…good luck !!
