I drove my 2000 C5 yesterday about 7 miles and heard a loud ticking sound as you can hear in the video when I got back to my driveway. I've noticed this before, but it seemed to go away after driving for a while. The care is stock with 49K, except for a Corsa exhaust. Any suggestions for where I should look to troubleshoot?
I did read about ensuring there are no loose spark plugs that could cause the issue, but I could not disconnect any wires. They were so tight, even a channel lock pliers could not budge them. The wires could be original to the car and I did not want to take a chance on breaking them without a new set to install.

Agree remove the belt and see if you still have the noise. Sounds like a failed pulley bearing or something rubbing that shouldn’t be. A ticking lifter or rocker would sound much slower at idle.

Thanks for everyone's response. I took another video today immediately after a cold start, and the ticking sound is replaced by a whining sound. Any thoughts?
