Default E-Brake clip

Hello again guys, I recently painted the calipers on my C5 and replaced the front shocks, when I took out the rear passenger side disc the E-brake drum moved out a little, I didn't realized the clip got out of the base and just got it back.
I assembled everything again and took the car for a spin I could hear a noise coming from that side, disassembled everything again and saw that the clip got break a little (like an inch) from one side.
The question is: Can I take out the e-brame shoe and use it like that meanwhile I find another clip?, (been searching, can't find just the clip)

Thanks
Tom

Are you referring to the shoe retention spring, #12 in the Dino’s graphic:

If so, it’s available in a PaRKiNg brake hardware kit, such as Carlson’s H7375, probably available at a local Autozone. The shoes and hardware were/are used on more cars than one might think. That said, the spring can be a bear to get back in.

Yes, that retention spring, I'll try to find it, but I already call autozone and they don't sell it.
The original question still remains, can I take out the shoe (part #11) and drive it like that temporary? I don't really use the hand brake that much.

Thanks
Tom

I have not bought a new shoe, my retention spring got cut on one end and can't use it anymore, I just didn't want to pay about $70 for a new shoe when mine looks fine and just need the spring.

In Orlando, where I’m located, 13 Autozones have the Duralast H7375 in stock, for $18. Hardware for both parking brakes.

https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-...375/690854_0_0

Amazon and Autozone seem to indicate it’s not the right kit, but Carlson says it is, and I’ve used it to fix my originally non functional parking brakes.
A lot of our parking brakes don’t work well, or at all. One of the bigger problems has been shoes that have never been adjusted. There is no adjuster access other than by pulling the drum/rotor. Pain to do, so they go un-adjusted and the adjuster can end up frozen.

I finally installed everything, thanks to the video USAZR1 posted, I ended using the same spring I hope it keeps in place after some use.
Thanks guys! although the original question reminded unanswered. lol
