What is the normal oil Pressure for a 99 C5 automatic....mine is 38-40 psi, when i get the oil changed and after a while like at 60% oil life it becomes 25-35 psi.....any info would help thanx
That is a good question. I have talked with other vette owners and I would say you are right in the ballpark. But that is my opinion. I usaully change my oil at 70 % which is probable overkill just due to the fact I make a lot of short trips. Good luck and happy vetting.

When you say 38-40 psi do you mean at idle after warm-up? My 01/6spd is at 32-34 at idle after warm-up with new oil and filter. I just had the GM ring fix so I have been watching it closely. What weight oil are you using??
If you are reading the actual pressure, I do not think new oil pressure would be any different from old oil pressure, at least I have seen this on any thing else before. Sid.
With most gauges the normal operating is when the needle is in mid range of the scale. That being said I think the oil pressure sending unit located on the back driver side of the motor is screwed up on mine. The DIC says I have 130 PSI of oil pressure and if that were true oil would be squirting out the dipstick tube. I think I am going to say this job until I do the heads and cam work.
Hey Duck916, do you have any info on replacing the oil pressure sender? My DIC reads 90-110, and I am about to change my oil (19% life). Thanks in advance!
Duck I figured that is what is is but I figure I will just wait until I have it torn down to do other work to replace it. Just trying to live with it until I get the heads and cam done so I will not have to tear things apart twice.
